Here we are again, gang. To sit in judgment of our favorite characters and reward them for impressing us with their goodness, while receiving glares of disapproval for their less admirable qualities. This post’s subject matter is BTVS, Season 09, Issue 02.
Our focus characters this time out include: Buffy, Willow, Spike, Detective Miranda Cheung, and Detective Robert Dowling. I almost included Dawn and Xander, too -- maybe two or three more panels of dialog and I’d have listed ‘em.
Our Characters Are A-OK!
Buffy: I’ve no kudos for the Buffster.
Wills: Willow doesn’t earn herself a reward.
Spike: It’s nice that you’re trying to help Spike, but there isn’t anything to reward for… yet.
Det. Cheung: Nothing for our cranky detective.
Det. Dowling: I’ll give Robert a Half-KUDO for taking the detective work beyond the call of usual to find at least one clue to their recent body account around San Francisco.
Riley Finn gets a Half-KUDO for off-screen being the one to negotiate an amnesty for Buffy and the Slayer Army following the collapse of Twilight’s plans.
We have to give a KUDO for the save of Buffy to the mysterious stranger in the alley [who I’ll just name: Severin, a.k.a. The Siphon, who of course won’t be the good guy he looks like].
Our Characters Are Gross!
Buffy- I’m going to give Buffy a Half-DEMERIT for trying to choke out the loan collecting demon. That wasn’t called for. I mean, don’t get me wrong - I’d love to strangle my debt collectors, but after all I was the one to borrow for what seemed like necessary reasons at the time. Buffy did the same thing and running around the world doesn’t get her out of paying back what she borrowed; Though if it did… huh, I wonder if I could borrow enough for a one way ticket somewhere….
Willow- Whiney Willow doesn’t earn a demerit.
Spike- Nothing bad out of Spike this issue.
Miranda- I have no idea what Miranda’s problem is, other than watching too many hard-boiled detective stories as a child but her attitude stinks. Trying her bad cop routine with Buffy is understandable, but being unpleasant at her partner for no reason just irks me. HOWEVER, I’m not going to issue a demerit just for that. I just wanted it noted.
Robert- Nothing to ding Dowling over… yet.
