NASA Love.

You guys, I am so psyched over this mission. I've wanted, since like I was in 7th grade, to see real photos of Pluto and to see what it's actually like rather than "artist's interpretation of what it may appear". My curiosity grew when I first saw the pictures sent back from Hubble only to find out that it could only resolve a blur of pixels which didn't show anything but a smear. Even though it's probably just going to be white with ice or brown with rock, I still cannot wait to see it for real.

The long encounter begins

Though New Horizons remains about 134 million miles (216 million km) from Pluto, it has already begun taking the dwarf planet's measure: Science observations began today, marking the beginning of "Approach Phase 1."
