I've got to get to the laundromat in a bit to wash up the winter comforters, but before I dash off, let's revisit Angel for another edition of "Best Of / Worst Of Character Moments".
Today's subject is Season 6, Issue 23. After the sloppy mess of issue 21 and the continuity gaff filled issue 22, it was a pleasure to read this one.
Our focus characters will be: Charles Gunn, Illria and in an extended cameo - Betta George.
Our Characters Are The Decent Ones:
Gunn- Charles' situation is too volatile to offer any kudos [or demerits] in this issue. He has sympathy all the way, but no rewards.
Illyria- Illyria's situation is just as unsettled as Gunn's and it's hard to evaluate what is intent and what is just her coping with confusion. I'm not ready to offer kudos to her in this issue.
George- I like George in this for his simple humanity and his capacity for forgiveness. Gunn, while a vampire, put Betta George through a mini-hell all his own, but he's still here trying to help Charles cope. He gets a Half-KUDO.
I'm also going to issue a Half-KUDO to Angel for his forgiveness of Gunn. Despite his knowing that human-Gunn wasn't responsible for vampire!Gunn's actions, it still takes a lot to forgive the death of Connor at his hands.
Our Characters Are Self-Centered Jerks:
Charles- Charles' emotional state is all over the map, thanks to... well... everything. I don't find anything to demerit him over.
Illyria- Illyria is also struggling and thus far I've nothing to really issue a demerit over.
Betta- George doesn't earn any ire.
I've no special demerits to issue, though Non comes close for sheer selfishness. But she did heal Charles, even if it was for the wrong reasons [which is why she also doesn't get a kudo].
