Now that we’ve gotten Angel’s latest Best Of/ Worst Of done [encompassed by Spike: After the Fall #1], let’s turn our attention to Buffy [by looking at FRAY, #1].
One interesting note before we get started is in our character selection: Technically, Melaka shouldn’t be a focus character in this investigation because she’s actually a minor villain here – she’s a lowdown thief. But, I’ve already included villains as focus characters before when their name is on the title [Angel vs. Frankenstein… which should’ve been titled Angelus vs. Frankenstein’s Monster], so we’ll follow suit here.
Our characters in this issue will be confined to two: Melaka Fray, and the actual hero Erin Fray.
Our Characters Earn Awards!
Melaka- Since we’re starting with a street rat who doesn’t know her destiny, we have nothing to reward Mel for yet.
Erin- Erin took a path the opposite of her sister, but just being a police officer doesn’t earn a kudo.
I’ve no one to issue a special kudo to, either.
I am going to issue a Half-Anti-KUDO to Gunther, though. I can’t imagine how he’s become such a master trader in ill-gotten gains and kept competitors at bay when he’s stuck in an aquarium, but it definitely shows that there is more to him than meets the casual eye.
Our Characters Earn Scorn!
Melaka- As mentioned our future!Slayer is a thief. Now I don’t care if you are a main character and get your name in big letters on the title – around this here judgementy place, you get a DEMERIT for that sort of thing, Mel.
Erin- I’ve nothing to issue a demerit to Erin for, but I can tell by Melaka’s reaction that the comment about Mel not being able to take care of anyone was a really low blow. Don’t think just because I’m not issuing a demerit for it that I approve of it, Erin.
I can’t find anyone deserving of a special demerit… yet.
