117 Buffyverse Characters link.
How could you not enjoy revisiting all of the characters from both BTVS and AtS that made the Buffyverse what it is??

All the major and semi-major and small-but-still-made-a-semi-major-impact characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, ranked in reverse order of excellence.

And, I kinda-mostly agree with his reasoning, even.

I agree with most of it. The one significant error, I think, is the statement that Angel signing away his Shanshu was incomprehensible.

I disagree strongly. I think that Angel was able to do it seemingly so easily is because the prophecy no longer mattered -- by that point, Angel already had become human in every way that mattered.

He had mastered love and work as an adult human needs to do -- had been a boss, an employee, a boss who fired his subordinates, an employee who pleads successfully to be re-hired by said subordinates, a flawed but fierce father, a friend, a lover, and so on.

To Shanshu or Not to Shanshu
I also disagree with that statement. I'm with you that the prophecy no longer mattered to Angel, though I have a different take on why.

I think the Shanshu itself had become too much of an Achilles Heel to him and he chose to forgo it because achieving his "destiny" had become the goal, rather than the reward for achieving his true goal -- to redeem himself for Angelus' actions and his own weaknesses. It also gave W & H (and everyone else) something to hold over him/manipulate him with.

I think, once Angel realized that he'd put achieving the Shanshu Prophecy above fighting the fight for its own sake, he knew he had lost sight of why it mattered in the first place. It was time to cast it aside and refocus on his personal mission.
