Why is freedom of speech important to you?
Our First Amendment is important because it acknowledges that citizens can't be retaliated against simply for saying "this sucks and our elected leaders our idiots" ... which isn't true in other parts of the world. Yes, it is sometimes abused -- but, it is SO very important to protect. Citizens able and free to tell anyone, anywhere that the elected leaders should be voted out of office A.S.A.P. without having to hide in back rooms and be paranoid that they'll vanish is critical to democracy.
That is why the 1ST Amendment... but more urgently... it's protection is important to me. The United States of America wouldn't be what it is if this first and most basic freedom hadn't been both passed onto us, and hadn't been so respected and revered by our forefathers.
