Hey everyone. Welcome to a new edition of Best of/Worst of, the series where we go back through our previous reviews and take a second look at our heroes. Were they good men and women, or did they disgust us with their antics?

This post's subject is: Angel & Faith, Season 02 (Angel, Season 8 for me; Angel, season 10 for DH), Issue 07.

Blurb: Faith decided to stay in the employ of Deepscan when she found out that her next mission concerned the missing Riley Finn - a guy with whom she has a past. Now, Faith and a team of Slayers search the South American jungle for Riley, his wife, and a missing tycoon, Walt Zane. In London’s Magic Town, Angel does his best to aid the people transformed by the magical virus he helped cause - currently he’s occupied with a request from an old Wiccan friend, Amy Madison.

Our primary focuses this issue are:

Angel: Still trying to figure out how to deal with Amy Madison to get her off of her ill-defined plans to attempt resurrecting Warren.

Faith: Still in the jungle with a group from Deepscan, employed by Reese Zane to find her missing father.

Ms. Zane: Trying to find her father, though the fact that they've been besieged by indigenous vampires doesn't reflect well on his chances... or on the missing Riley's.

Major Billings: The American military's point man on this mission [but I'm really not sure why the government is in on this].

Mai, the Slayer: The only Slayer in Deepscan, besides Kennedy, that is willing to see what Faith will do, rather than depending on her reputation.
No kudo for the title character: I feel like that happens a lot.Collapse )

Hey, and welcome back to another edition of Best of/Worst of ...  The series in which I lay a critical eye on our characters, rather than plot, in order to give them a reward for a job well done, or a demerit for disappointing my expectations of them.

As the subject line kinda-sorta-intimated, if you stare really hard, this post is concerning our main players in Season 10's Issue 08:

Blurb: The rules of magic are literally being rewritten. With day-walking vampires and a male Slayer, Buffy & Co. are trying to keep the weirdness under control. Willow is focused on learning the new rules, while Giles is coming to terms with his newfound youth, and Xander is trying to save his relationship with Dawn. Still, Buffy has her family together again - and since their mission doesn’t yet feature Apocalypse spelled out in big letters, life is pretty good…

Our characters under the spotlight are - Buffy, Willow, Spike and Andrew will be our focus for this issue. The others are there for the beginning, but they're more glorified cameos.

I think I over-identify with Andrew.Collapse )
