Open Request: The Black Room (in case a 'search' comes across this)

I happen to have an interest in movie reviewing, especially among the vlogs/blogs set. You'll know this if you've gone through my tags, or are an internet-friend of this page. The point though, is that I like this because (a) I get to compare/contrast how I felt about a film versus how others viewed it and (b) [and the point of this post] because I often find movies I've never heard of and didn't know existed, but find I want to see because someone wrote about them.

My current movie that I'd be very interested in seeing is called "The Black Room".  This film has (as far as 'The Nasties Review' knows, and I'm not in any position to state he's wrong) not been made available on R1 [or any DVD] release yet. Just from the review that Mr. Glenn Criddle posted, I am very interested in checking out this film.

So -- If you happen to know who owns the current copyright, or [And Wouldn't That Be AMAZING] do own the copyright... please... release this flick as a DVD release. For region one, I'd recommend Anchor Bay or Criterion who both do generally excellent jobs with their presentation and their marketing of otherwise more obscure films of decades past.

This one looks like it might be unusual, but also of quality and I'd love to be able to see (and review) the film in full.

black room    (VCR? BETA? LASERDISK? Whichever, it isn't a DVD cover.)

I also want to encourage ANYONE breezing by here to make a sort of unofficial meme of posting requests on your own sites for not-on-DVD requests. At this point in our electronic development, it is weird to think that there are films out there not on this format. We need to let the 'powers.that.be', which I'm sure are just as internet savvy as the rest of us - at least - with a search engine, know that there is interest in films of the past.

Space: Asteroid Mining Plans.

Okay. It's not that I want to discourage the notion of returning valued and useful minerals to Earth from the cosmic debris that God (Or Chance, if you're agnostic) put in our solar system when we're ready to exploit them...BUT... I'm extremely doubtful.

Mostly because I'm quite, ruthlessly practical. I don't see our technology/economic advances being ready.

I want it to be done. That would prove to the entire world that the advances made by the former 'big bad', the USSR, the U.S. and the current only partially ambiguous baddie, Russia were right all along to send probes into intra-solar space were correct to do so. But, I can't help but think that even Corporate Evil Incorporated isn't ready to actually exploit meteor/comet wealth by mining.

But, man, would I love to see in my lifetime actual mining shuttles/probes actually doing so. There is so much that has changed in my lifetime, it would be Incredible for this sort of activity to actually happen. But, then I look at the stalemate/political!staredown-contest happening and I just don't see it.

Fuck. How am I actually thinking that Big Corp, Inc. [which I actually believe is generally evil, even when they're not consciously so] should ignore common-wisdom and show up the governments of the world?!?

Jeezus. Can I at least take comfort in Richard Branson being involved? Because if anyone can pull this off, it's him.

Random Love - Pat Benatar

Hey, my few followers. I've decided to include a new feature now on harsens-rob called [yeah, see the 'subject line'] Random Love.

This is really about pointing out random bits [well, that makes sense] that I can't include under the other subjects, mostly because I just wanna link to something awesome that shouldn't be forgotten from my growing up period. There are some interests/artists/videos that are not just a "I remember when..." things, but are STILL admired, even though you'd think maybe they were a bit too [insert decade] for anyone afterward to notice.

Turns out... No.

This will be an occasional and irregular posting. My first post under this is: "Love Is a Battlefield" by Pat. For this random post, I'm only considering things from the past [i.e. my growing up period] that is still managing to hold interest.

As you can see with this LINK, where Avril is just as admiring of Pat Benatar and her awesome husband as I. And Yes, It Is So 80's. Obviously, I'm not the only one who cares not.

Edited to add: Hey! Did Pat leave home because she's a Slayer who never got called. Is that why she leaves home after her dad goes on a rant about leaving home and never coming back? It sure sounds a lot like Joyce telling Buffy to never come back if she leaves after shoving her away in BECOMING, PART II.

Things to make you think. And plot fanfic.

Edit to add this video of a performance from Martina McBride of "Promises In The Dark" ... which has a special appearance, which I'm sure will not be a shock to y'all, but it is awesome for that.

So, basically what all of this post is meant to say is "I Love You, Pat".
