Happily, the local paper is reporting that Lucky 7 Development LLC and Grande Pointe Development LLC have been turned down by the DEQ for a permit to rip the hell out of our island.
Not that they'll stop trying, of course. They have already filed appeals of the Clay Township's refusal of a building permit to put in their cluster housing and plans to build a marina and cut off a public road for their own use.
The fight will go on, but every time they get turned down, it feels a little bit better to me. The greedy pricks....

Okay, so maybe the "don't ask, don't tell" policy the military uses to enforce secrecy on our gay service members isn't going to be overturned anytime soon, despite the fact that Israel and Great Britain's armed forces don't see to suffer any when gays openly serve. But once in a while, we do have some small reason to hope that things are changing enough in civil society for our strong, proud, military members to also receive the respect they deserve.
Maybe, all it's really going to take is more 'witnesses', like this one: .... bitch.
